Chatting with a woman in Swakopmund, Namibia, she tells me of her grandfather who has a farm in South Africa. He used to see cheetah on his land. Maybe once every 3 months or so. His losses from predators were minimal as there was enough game for them that they did not need his livestock. He liked seeing the cheetah and delighted in the occasional sightings.

In the last ten to fifteen years though, he has not seen a cheetah on his land.
